It’s no surprise that moving can be expensive. However, there are ways to get around paying full-price on all your furnishings. One method is to be patient and plan ahead. Waiting for the right time to buy decor can save you money in the long run. Many retailers have specific months or sales days when items are discounted more than other times. Linens: January is the best time to buy linens like bedding, tablecloths, and towels as many retailers have “white sales” to clear out stock and make room for new designs. Furniture retailers clearance-price excess inventory before these seasons. Think late winter (January and February) and late summer (August and September) for the best discounts. Furniture also sees lower prices during holiday sales, especially on long weekends like July 4 and President’s Day, as well as online sales days like Prime Day (July) and Way Day (May).
Kitchen Appliances: House 9 Interiors. Kitchen appliance prices can be high, so it’s a relief to get a deal. For larger appliances like dishwashers, fridges, and stoves, the lowest prices are in October and November when new models hit the market and old items need to be cleared out. Smaller appliances like air fryers and toasters are discounted on sales days like Prime Day or Black Friday and at the end of the year. Cookware: Good cookware is often discounted during gifting seasons. In November, cookware is very affordable due to the upcoming holiday season. Rugs don’t have a definite time frame for getting the best deals.When it comes to purchasing home decor items, timing is crucial. Major discounts are often found on specific ‘tentpole’ sales days such as Black Friday, Labor Day, and Prime Day. It’s beneficial to watch for annual clearance sales or special rug sales events like a retailer’s anniversary for more exclusive discounts, particularly if you have a certain brand or product in mind.
For outdoor furniture, the summer season’s end brings the best deals. Sales begin to lighten in early August, with discounts increasing as the month progresses, making it an ideal time to acquire your desired patio pieces for the following year. Labor Day also presents significant outdoor furniture sales as it marks the end of summer. Mattresses, being a substantial investment, offer savings during specific times. The best sales occur in March and April as retailers clear out older models to make way for new ones. Holiday weekends are also prime for mattress markdowns. Cyber Monday, the Monday following Thanksgiving in late November or early December, is the perfect time to purchase smart TVs, speakers, security cameras, and other home tech. The back-to-school season also provides discounts on tech items like monitors, printers, and speakers, ideal for upgrading your home office.
