I dressed up Baby Bird as Rosie the Riveter for Halloween, and it’s possibly my favorite costume ever because every piece is wearable on its own. You know I love multi-use costumes, and feminist icons are a bonus!
Although Halloween was weeks ago, I had to blog about this make because I love it so much. We’re cool with more costumes, right? I feel like I’ve blogged a ton of costumes this year! This costume was incredibly easy—it only has three elements: a white onesie, denim romper overalls, and a bow headband (FREE pattern here). Many people have asked how to make the romper, and it’s dead easy: it’s literally bloomers with a square sewn in the front and straps. It was super quick to make, and there are tons of bloomer/diaper cover patterns available if you want to try something similar. I’m so happy with how this turned out! The only change I’ll make is adding snap closures in the front. I used elastic straps to keep things simple, and they worked for one day, but they’re a bit of a pain for nappy changes, so I’ll fix that soon. I often forget to share detail photos, but I remembered this time! I hope it helps give a clearer idea of what I did. To create your own baby Rosie costume, you’ll need: – A white/plain onesie – Overall rompers, which you can DIY using a bloomer pattern – A bow headband using this tutorial And you’re done! GAH, I love this baby! She is so cute!
