I’ve long dreamed of a jersey Eucalypt maxi dress, and I finally made one! It’s a versatile wardrobe staple I wear repeatedly. Plus, it was an easy project—a total win.
Ready to make your own? Let’s begin! **Pattern Sizing:** Cut your Eucalypt woven dress pattern one or two sizes smaller than usual. I chose one size smaller for a nice, loose drape. For a more fitted look, take the pattern in further. **Fabric Note:** The exact fabric I used is available in my store. **Lengthening the Pattern:** 1. Slash your pattern pieces horizontally just above the hemline. 2. Spread them by your desired amount until you reach maxi length. Remember, the back hemline dips lower than the front, so use the back as your maximum dress length. 3. Redraw the pattern edges and fill in with pattern paper. The Eucalypt pattern is great because the back stays long while the front remains high enough for easy walking. **Swing Construction:** 1. With right sides together, sew the side seams and shoulder seams using a serger/overlocker or a zigzag stitch. 2. Finish the neckline and armholes using my easiest knit neckline tutorial. 3. For the hem, either leave it raw or turn it under by 1/2″ and sew with a twin needle, coverstitch, or zigzag stitch. That’s it! It was seriously easy. I’m sold on the jersey Eucalypt and plan to make several more. **[Make This Look]** Dress: Megan Nielsen Eucalypt (Tutorial above + pattern + fabric) Shoes: Country Road Belt: Witchery Sunnies: Ray Ban Original Wayfarer Pattern: Eucalypt MN2101
